NRA Basic CCW Course

Service Description

The NRA Basic CCW Course is intended for all individuals regardless of previous shooting experience or NRA affiliation. We will teach you the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary to carry a concealed pistol for personal defense. Course topics include Firearm Safety (Mandatory), Pistol Nomenclature and Selecting a Pistol for Self-Defense, Basic Defensive Pistol Skills, Drawing from Concealment, Loading and Stoppage Remediation, Mindset, Carry Modes, Pistol Concealment, and Firearm Cleaning. This 8-hour minimum objective-based learning course is tailored to an individual's experience level. The Instructor determines the course length to meet your State’s requirements for a CCW permit. The students will complete live fire training and a nationally standardized shooting qualification while on the range with an NRA Certified Instructor. The course may be completed in a day or over several days with smaller instruction blocks. Upon passing the course, you will receive a course completion certificate bearing the signature of the NRA Secretary and your NRA Certified Instructor. Prerequisite: None. What to bring: 1) Quality pistol appropriate for concealed carry (minimum of 9mm or .38 Special) 2) Quality Strong Side Hip Holster - Recommended form-fitted leather or Kydex holster. The holster must cover the trigger/trigger guard 3) Quality Belt designed to carry a holster and a firearm is strongly recommended 4) Quality 200-250 rounds of manufactured ammunition suitable for practice 5) Two spare magazines or speed loaders with appropriate pouches - at least 3 6) Clothing appropriate for concealed carry 7) Eye protection 8) Hearing protection What we provide: 1) NRA Guide to the Basics of Personal Protection Outside the Home 2) NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting Handbook 3) NRA Marksmanship Qualification Program Booklet 4) Gun Safety Rules Card 5) Access to the range 6) Unlimited targets.
